# Chart Orientation / Rotation

The *rotation* of the charts is defined by their *orientation*.

By default, the orientation is set to *Auto*. With *Auto* set, the visual adjusts to the current dimension of the levels field. Temporal dimensions are shown in time orientation (horizontal axis) and others in structure orientation (vertical axis).

Temporal dimension are dimensions that are part of a *date hierarchy*:

**You can override this behavior by selecting \_Time***\*\* or \*\****Structure**\_\*\* explicitly.\*\*
